Steamboat Challenge

Event was conducted at the

Otto Road Shooting Range in Cheyenne, Wyoming

on August 19 and 20, 2023

Steamboat Challenge number 9 is is in the books with an exciting State Championship “Battle for the Buckles” match that got everyone out of their “comfort zone”.  Along with traditional falling plates and the moving target modified the other two events were “Los Alamitos” and the dreaded Ambidextrous plates — which is also called “the humbler” to even the best Action Pistol shooters.  Congratulations to our top three shooters :  3rd Place Julie Golob, 2nd place, Ryan Franks and Wyoming State Champion Anthony Heinauer with a score of 1810-163X out of a possible 1860-186X.   Top shooter in our “Production Revolver” special category was Chris Hudock with a 1604-115X.  Production revolver was a "standing only” match and it was a great show put on by Chris and Luke Buchser of the Border Patrol.  Luke was a close second with 1593-118X.

Steamboat is powered by our great cadre of volunteers who volunteer considerable time and effort to make things run smoothly and efficiently.  A big Wyoming thank you to them because there is no match without them!  It was a great weekend of Action Pistol shooting and we look forward to 2024 for the 10th Steamboat Challenge which will be the weekend of August 17 and 18.  See you in ‘Ol Cheyenne!
